The network operator that currently provides service for a phone number.
The carrier is the operator behind a number — the network that routes its calls and texts. Knowing the current carrier matters for correct routing and for detecting when a number has been ported away from its original operator.
For accuracy, the carrier should be resolved live, because the original range owner and the current carrier are often not the same.
